Description

Vintage Aynsley 982 Creamer – Pink & Floral Bone China, England

This elegant Aynsley 982 creamer is a beautiful example of early 20th-century English bone china, combining refined form with delicate decorative detail. Produced by John Aynsley & Sons and typically dated between 1905 and 1925, this pattern reflects the graceful style of the Edwardian era.

The piece features a rich pink band paired with an ivory upper ground, accented by a continuous garland of finely detailed floral sprays, often described as rose swags. The decoration feels light and balanced, while the hand-applied gilt trim adds warmth and subtle brilliance. This combination of pink ground, floral garlands, and gold detailing defines the enduring appeal of Aynsley’s Pattern 982.

A finely shaped spout and gently curved handle give the creamer a smooth, flowing silhouette. This form is often referred to by collectors as the “smooth shape,” distinguishing it from more heavily molded or embossed designs of the same period. The restrained shaping allows the decoration to take center stage while maintaining a clean, elegant profile.

Aynsley built its reputation on producing high-quality bone china for both everyday refinement and special occasions. Pattern 982 remains especially sought after today, not only for its beauty but also because it is a discontinued design, making it increasingly difficult to assemble complete matching sets. Pieces like this creamer are often collected individually or used to complement existing services.

This creamer works beautifully within a traditional tea setting, whether for afternoon tea, bridal gatherings, or display. Its size makes it practical for serving cream or milk, while its decorative presence allows it to stand alone as a collectible accent.

The underside bears the Aynsley England crown mark along with the pattern number, confirming its authenticity and origin.

Condition is very good vintage, with light, age-appropriate wear. The gilt trim remains bright, and the floral decoration retains its clarity and color.
