Description

Ebeling & Reuss Marchioness Rose Crystal Champagne Flute

This elegant champagne flute comes from the Marchioness pattern by Ebeling & Reuss, one of the most recognizable mid-century imported crystal lines. It features a rare rose overlay, often described as light pink, cut to clear and finished with a refined gold rim.

The color immediately sets it apart. Most Marchioness pieces appear in stronger jewel tones such as ruby or amethyst. This softer rose tone appears far less often. Makers used a thinner overlay to achieve this effect, which made production more difficult and increased loss during cutting. Because of that, fewer pieces entered the market and even fewer survived.

The form adds another layer of rarity. Champagne flutes were produced in smaller numbers than goblets or highballs, and their taller, more delicate structure led to higher breakage over time. Today, collectors actively search for surviving champagne flutes, especially in uncommon colors like this one.

The bowl shows the classic Marchioness floral wheel-cut design, clean and well defined. The lower section reflects light through a crisp diamond-cut pattern, while the gold rim provides a warm contrast against the rose tone. The proportions feel balanced and refined, making it both a functional glass and a display piece.

Ebeling & Reuss imported these crystal pieces from European workshops, most likely in Bohemia or West Germany, during the height of mid-century entertaining culture. The Marchioness line reflects that period’s appreciation for craftsmanship, color, and detail.

You can use it as a replacement for a set, start a collection, or display it as a standalone piece. It brings elegance, rarity, and a sense of history into any setting.

Rarity and Collectibility

This example combines two of the most desirable factors in the Marchioness line:

Rose (light pink) overlay — among the rarest colors produced

Champagne flute form — less common and harder to find than goblets

Collectors recognize this combination as one of the more difficult pieces to source today.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of use

No chips or cracks observed

Gold rim remains strong with light, even wear

Cutting remains sharp and well defined
